Hebden Water

Hebden Bridge was flooded twice in July 2012 and damaged premises in Market Street, etc. Due to the layout of the dale and canal all the water coming down to Hebden has to pass through the canal aqueduct. Unfortunately this appears to be partially blocked with gravel and debris causing the river to back up and flood the town. The area above the aqueduct was flooded but the area below, i.e. the playing fields, were only flooded to 6

The aqueduct nearly full of water.
